Saturday 3/1

Snatch Grip Deadlift warm up to 405 lb single

Deadlift

Conventional  420 lbs 4 x 4 beltless,

470 lbs x 2,

530 lbs x Jack Shit

420 lbs x 10 strapped

Today was disappointing. As smoothly at I’d pulled 515 x 2 last week, I hoped this week would see some strong progress as well. No dice. I actually came in yesterday for this session but my hamstrings felt really off and I wound up cutting it short halfway through my warm up. So it goes. I’ll go back in about 10 days and try again.

Snatch Grip Deadlift warm up to 405 lb single

Deadlift

               Conventional  405 lbs 4 x 4 beltless,

                                             460 lbs x 2,

                                           515 lbs x 2

                                          405 lbs x 11 strapped

               DOH Speed Pull 405 lbs x 1, 415 lbs x 1

Today was a good day. This week got crazy so I what I was supposed to do Wednesday got shifted to Friday, but that turned out to be for the best. The extra recovery days were good, as 515 lbs came up for a fast smooth double, where a week a go I could only manage a super grindy single. Additionally, I hit a >2BW DOH pull, which makes me very happy as well.

Wednesday 2/12

Snatch Grip Deadlift warm up to 405 lb single

Deadlift

               Conventional  405 lbs 4 x 4 beltless, 460 lbs x 2, 515 lbs x 1 strapped

                                      405 lbs x 8 strapped

Yoke Walks

          315 lbs x 150 ft w/ 2 picks

          405 lbs x 50 ft w/ 2 picks

          515 lbs x 100 ft w/ 5 picks

Today wasn’t great. I squatted on Monday instead of Sunday like I usually do, and I could definitely tell I was missing a recovery day. My hamstrings and hips felt tight throughout all my pulls and I only got one rep at 515 lbs instead of two like I was supposed to get. So it goes. On the plus side, I did get to try out yoke walks for the first time. Didn’t go super heavy, but the yoke itself was pretty rickety and added a lot of lateral and rotational instability. My hips and knees are certainly feeling it.

Wednesday 2/5

Snatch Grip Deadlift warm up to 405 lb single

Deadlift

               Conventional  405 lbs 4 x 4 beltless, 455 lbs x 2, 505 lbs x 2 strapped

                                      405 lbs x 9 strapped

                DOH Speed Pulls 365 lbs x 1, 375 lbs x 1, 385 lbs x 1, 395 lbs x miss

Farmer’s Walks

          125 lbs x 100 ft w/ turn at 50 ft

          175 lbs x 100 ft w/ turn at 50 ft

          205 lbs x 60 ft w/ turn at 30 ft

Tonight was a really good session. The heavy double was a real grind, but I got it done. Then I almost got a 2xBW DOH pull, which is something I’ve wanted for a while. Finally, after I thought I was done, the other strongman competitor at the gym arrived and was going to do farmer’s walks. Since I so rarely get to train with someone, I said “fuck it” and did farmer’s as well. Just goes to show you how much having a training partner can help because I think I did about as well today as I did Sunday when I was relatively fresh.

Thimble

Wednesday 1/22

Snatch Grip Deadlift 135 lbs x 5, 225 lbs x 3, 315 lbs x 3, 365 lbs x 3

Deadlift

               Conventional  405 lbs 4 x 4 beltless, 455 lbs x 2, 505 lbs x 2

                                      405 lbs x 10 strapped

                DOH Speed Pulls 355 lbs x  3, 2, 1, 1 held for 12 seconds

Pulling felt good today. I was a little worried going into the heavy double, but the first one came up pretty easily. The second rep got out of groove and a little in front of me, but I ground it out.
